Case Study - Behavioural Interviewing
Client Need
A large insurance organisation was seeking to improve
the accuracy, efficiency and defensibility of its selection
processes.
CompAssess Solution
CompAssess was engaged to help close the line manager interviewing skills gaps. Starting
from the CompAssess Behavioural Interview Skills Workshop Template, CompAssess worked consultatively
to tailor the approach to the client's competency profiles and other specific selection processes.
Upon finalisation of the materials, CompAssess consultants
facilitated Train-the-Trainer Workshops for those internal
Human Resources staff nominated as Interviewing Workshop Facilitators.
The competency-based workshop required the facilitators to
meet specific standards that had been set with regard to mastering
the content and broader facilitation skills. With some remedial
coaching, all participants passed the 'competency gates' and
have been successfully conducting the workshops across the
organisation.
Outcome
Despite initial resistance to training, the workshops have
been universally well received and praised for their pragmatic
yet powerful approach to learning. A key element that was
specifically noted was how the workshop engaged participants
in the first half hour as to the risks of poor selection decisions
and how this related to hiring manager capabilities to predict
performance.
